For those of us outside of the world of professional sport, what we see on our TV screens is the end of a journey demanding huge amounts of dedication and sacrifice. So the opportunity to get a glimpse into the minds of some of the UK’s elite is an honour. And with the Olympics and Paralympics on the horizon, I’ll be ready on the starting blocks to catch up with some familiar faces, and some of our new medal hopefuls.

London 2012 saw Hampshire’s sporting heroes and heroines share their stories (including the legendary Sir Ben Ainslie below). However, just as impressive are the feats achieved by extraordinary individuals who as well as keeping down a full time job push their bodies to the limit; a Channel swim and 12 endurance events in  12 months were two of the remarkable stories covered for Outdoor Fitness magazine (below).
